Mexican Master David Alfaro Siqueiros and Others

May 3 - May 14, 2014

Gus Kopriva and Redbud Gallery are pleased to announce a showing of works by the great Mexican master David A. Siqueiros.

Siqueiros, along with Jose C. Orozco, and Diego Rivera was one of the most influential artists of the renaissance that took place in Mexican art during the last century.

Siqueiros (1896 – 1974) had his last major show in Houston in 1997 at the HMFA. His subject matter included celebrity portraits, social/political murals, volcanic landscapes, and surrealistic renderings. He was of a passionate nature and was arrested several times by the Mexican authorities for political and criminal activities. This exhibition will showcase a never before exhibited late career painting and signed lithographs dating as far back as the early 1930’s.
