Mary Breneman (Mexico)

"Los Caballos"

May 1 - May 30, 2010

Mary Breneman studied painting at the Art Student’s League in New York. She studied Illustration at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts. She has also studied painting in Northern Italy.

She began her career in advertising creating storyboards for TV and then became an illustrator for print. Before coming to San Miguel, she was a very well known decorative painter and muralist in the New England area working for private residences and commercial spaces.
She is an internationally collected artist currently living in scenic San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she has finally realized her lifelong dream of painting full time and owning her own gallery.

The artist writes:  “I am interested in the texture and substance of paint. I try to work with directions—what I would call the shape of movement. In this sense, everything is a subject for me. I want to find the flesh of my subjects and to push the color.”
