Emily Sloan grew up in Diboll, Texas, and now lives and works in Houston, Texas. She has exhibited at the Ontario College of Art and Design, has been selected for Texas National, has the Burning House installation on Texas highway 59N (Seven Oaks, Polk County), has exhibited at the Target Gallery in Alexandria, Virginia, The Dallas Contemporary in Dallas, Texas, Deborah Colton Gallery, Lawndale Art Center, and had artwork featured at Project Row Houses in Houston, Texas.

Sloan had King Cone: The Traveling Traffic Cone in the Houston Art Car Parade, the Sabine Street Bridge Lamp at the City of Houston's Buffalo Bayou Park and To Whom it May Concern (4900 block of Main St., Houston) a public work created as part of her Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts Residency at Lawndale Art Center. Fall 2008, she had two site-specific projects to be featured at the Texas State Fair including one at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas and had a solo show, Still Life, at Gallery 1724 Artspace in Houston, Texas.

In 2009, Sloan finished her MFA in sculpture at the University of Houston where she was a teaching fellow. She also had a residency at the Vermont Studio Center, and participated in numerous group exhibitions including being selected by curator Clint Willour for Lawndale Art Center’s 30th Anniversary exhibition. May 2010, Sloan has a solo show scheduled at Art.
